Time frames tell the phone system what time it is for your business, like open hours, closed hours, and holidays. On their own they don't change anything. They take effect when you use them in an answering rule.
Common time frames:
- Open Hours – for example, Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM
- Holidays – like Independence Day, Thanksgiving, and New Year's
- Closed Hours – all other times
Some time frames are shared across your whole company and set by your office manager. You can also make personal ones just for your extension.
Add a personal time frame
- Log in to the Voice Portal. (Office managers: first click your name in the top-right corner, then My Account.)
- Click the Time Frames icon at the top of the page.
- Click Add Time Frame.
- In Name, type a name, like "Lunch."
- Next to When, choose one:
- Always – applies all the time. Click Save and you're done.
- Days of the week and times – see below.
- Specific dates or ranges – see below.
If you chose days of the week and times
- Check each day the time frame applies to. A blue bar appears showing 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Drag the left end of the bar to change the start time, and the right end to change the end time.
- Need two time blocks in one day, like 8 AM to noon and 1 PM to 5 PM? Click the add icon next to the bar to add a second block.
- Click Save.
Tip: For exact times, click the start or end button, then use the left and right arrow keys on your keyboard to move in 5-minute steps.
If you chose specific dates or ranges
- Click the left box and pick a start date and time from the calendar.
- Click the right box and pick an end date and time.
- To add another date range, click the add icon for a new row. To remove a row, click its remove icon.
- Click Save.
Tip: On the Time Frames page, hover over a time frame's description to see its settings.
