If calls on your desk phone sound choppy, drop, or you can't hear the other person (or they can't hear you), try these steps in order.
Try these first
- Restart your phone. Unplug the phone's power adapter, wait 30 seconds, and plug it back in. If the phone has no power adapter, it gets its power from the network cable, so unplug that cable instead.
- Check the cables. Make sure the network cable is firmly plugged in at the phone and at the wall jack or network switch.
- Use a wired connection. If your phone is on Wi-Fi, a wired network (Ethernet) connection gives better call quality.
Check your internet connection
- Run an internet quality test. A score below 4 on a VoIP quality (MOS) test means your connection isn't good enough for phone calls.
- Calls connect but there's no sound, or calls don't ring in: your network may be the cause. Check that your router doesn't use double NAT, and turn off SIP ALG in the router's settings.
- Ask your IT person or vendor to turn on Quality of Service (QoS) for phone traffic on your router.
UnaDial can't change your network, but we're happy to help your IT person or vendor.
