The Yealink W73P is a cordless phone. It has two parts: the handset you carry, and the base station that connects to your network. You can use the handset anywhere within range of the base.
The base station
- The base connects to your network with a network (Ethernet) cable. If your network doesn't power it through that cable, it uses its power adapter.
- It has three lights: Power, Network, and Registration. When everything is working, all three are steady green.
- The button on the base has two jobs. Press it briefly to make your handsets ring, so you can find a lost one. Hold it to pair a handset (see "Pairing a handset" below).
The keys on your handset
- Off-hook – answers a call or places a call. When you're not on a call, it shows the numbers you've called.
- On-hook – ends a call or goes back one screen. Hold it to turn the handset off. Press it to turn the handset back on.
- Speakerphone – switches the call to the speaker, or answers a call on speaker.
- Mute – turns your microphone off and back on.
- TRAN – transfers a call.
- Message – opens your voicemail and missed calls.
- OK – opens the main menu, or confirms a choice.
- Arrow keys – move through menus. During a call, the up and down arrows change the volume.
- Soft keys – the keys under the screen. What they do is shown on the screen above them.
The light on the handset shows what's going on:
- Solid red – charging
- Fast red flash – a call is ringing
- Slow red flash – you have a new voicemail or a missed call
Charging the handset
Put the battery in, put the cover back on, and set the handset on its charger with the charger plugged in. The battery symbol at the top right of the screen shows the charge.
Good to know: Yealink rates a full battery at up to 35 hours of talk time or 400 hours on standby, in ideal conditions. A 10-minute charge gives about 2 hours of talk time.

Finding a lost handset
Press the button on the base briefly. Your handsets ring so you can find the missing one.
Pairing a handset to the base
Use these steps for a new or replacement handset.
- On the base, hold the button until the Registration light starts flashing. The base waits about 90 seconds for a handset.
- On the handset, when the screen says Unregistered!, press Reg.
- When the screen says Handset Subscribed, the handset is paired.
If the handset asks for a PIN, or it pairs but can't make calls, call UnaDial support.
If something isn't working
- No calls, or the base's Network light isn't steady green: make sure the base's network cable is firmly plugged in at both ends, and that the base has power. Then call UnaDial support. Have the base's MAC address ready. It's on the label on the back of the base, marked MAC. See also "Plugging in your Yealink T57W or W73P."
- Choppy sound or calls cutting out: move closer to the base. Yealink rates the range at up to 50 meters (about 160 feet) indoors in ideal conditions. Walls and floors shorten it. See also "Fixing call quality problems on your desk phone."
Important: Don't factory reset the base or the handset unless UnaDial support asks you to. A reset erases the settings, and the phone may not be able to make calls until it's set up again.
