Some accounts use a second sign-in step for extra security. After your password, you type a 6-digit code from the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone.
Get the app
Install Microsoft Authenticator from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android).
The first time
- Sign in with your username and password. A Microsoft Authenticator Authentication window opens with a QR code.
- On your phone, open Microsoft Authenticator and tap +.
- Choose Other account (QR code) and scan the QR code on your screen.
- Type the 6-digit code shown in Microsoft Authenticator into the OTP box, then click Log In. (In the web portal, click Next.)
Every time after that
Sign in with your username and password. When the OTP box appears, type the current 6-digit code from Microsoft Authenticator and click Log In. The code changes every 30 seconds, so use the one showing right now.
