Using your fax machine (T.38 fax)

You can keep using your regular fax machine with UnaDial. The fax machine plugs into a small fax adapter (an ATA) that sends your faxes over the internet using T.38, a method built for reliable faxing over internet phone service.

Getting set up

UnaDial sets up the fax adapter for you. Call UnaDial support to get started. RingLogix recommends fax-aware adapters from Netgen for the best results.

Tips for reliable faxing

  • A steady internet connection matters most. Most fax failures come from internet problems like dropped packets or lag, not from the fax machine.
  • If one-page faxes go through but longer faxes fail, call UnaDial support. That pattern usually points to a setup issue we can fix.
  • Large faxes work fine on a good connection. Faxes of 40 to 60 pages are sent regularly.

Good to know: You can also have incoming faxes print on your fax machine instead of arriving by email. See "Receiving faxes and viewing fax history."
